Located in the heart of Schenectady, where Wright Avenue and Central Parkway meet, the Central Park Rose Garden has been a favorite place for strolling, reflecting, taking family or wedding photos and hosting events for over 60 years.  CLICK HERE FOR EVENT REGISTRATION INFORMATION.

The Rose Garden, once maintained by the city’s parks department, peaked in the late 1970s, but over the following years fell into disrepair. By the summer of 1995 it appeared likely the garden would be completely abandoned. This is when the local community stepped forward to form the Rose Garden Restoration Committee. Now a non-profit organization, the committee’s singular mission is to restore, enhance and maintain this unique public rose garden.

We invite you to see the spectacular results of this ongoing 25+ year effort. From June until October our roses saturate the garden with vibrant rich hues and tantalizing scents. Experience the breathtaking delight of strolling among 4,000 rose bushes, enjoy our tiered center fountain, cross over a babbling brook or simply sit listening to birdsong by the spring pond. We have chronicled the many changes to the garden in our annual Garden Notes publication; click here to view.

On behalf of the Rose Garden Restoration Committee Board of Directors, our gardeners, volunteers and many supporters, welcome to our website. We hope you’ll visit the garden too.
